The Nine Muses Beauty, Talent, Inspiration Roman Greek Mythology. With the victory of the Olympian gods, over the six children of Uranus (Titans). Zeus was asked to create deities capable of singing victory and perpetuating the glory of the Olympians. Zeus then shared a bed with Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory, for ten consecutive nights, and a year later Mnemosyne gave birth to nine daughters near Mount Olympus. To the delight of the Pantheon, the Muses sang of the present, past and future, accompanied by the lyre of Apollo, who was their leader. Very jealous of their honor, they punished mortals who dared to assume equality with them in the art of music and all that they mastered. The mermaids, daring to compete with them (in the corner), were deprived of the feathers of their wings, which the muses themselves had adorned.
